Meet Evie Jones, a young witch stumbling into adventures, fighting the rules of her authoritarian government, and bringing the fire to everything from her career to her love life.

And she thought her ex was evil...

Witch Evie Jones would rather drown her sorrows than babysit the weekend her ex is getting married, but she promised her friend she'd help. The night goes from bad to worse when a zombie crashes the party and TV bingewatching turns to terror. Now she’s in for the fight of both hers and her charge’s lives.

**This was fast, fun, sassy, and an enjoyable short, even though I'm not the target audience. Definitely would read more Evie Jones stories after this.**

Let me start by saying: best dedication ever! “For my parents. This is all your fault. Never should’ve taught me to read.” Lol.

The blurb got me all excited, but although the premise was good, the execution could be better. It does show promise!

Evie is a witch. And there she is, on a Friday night, contemplating which curse she’ll use on her ex.

The story was hard to get into because there was so much information during the conversation, in between the spoken sentences I mean. Granted, the information was necessary. It just made it hard to remember what they were replying about. But it was just a short story, so it was a large part of this book. And later on, I missed information. Like why is she constantly ‘grabbing her necklace’? Explanation please! I still want to read more, so it wasn’t all bad! I’ll give this series another chance, because there’s definitely something there.

There is some swearing.

Evie Jones and the Crazy Exes An Evie Jones Short edition by Amie Gibbons Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Evie Jones is fun - and the two shorts that have been published to date have whet my appetite for further adventures. I do not usually do any reading in the magic genre, but the combination of short, fun, smart, and Evie bring it together and make it work.
Light, refreshing, and fun.
Funny
Fun read. Think I'll be stocking up on salt. Lots and lots of salt.
Amie is a fresh voice in the Urban Fantasy genre. Her characters are fun, have attitude, and combine her own knowledge of Law with a little (or a lot) of practical magic, making both quite entertaining.
Very excited for the release of this book! Amie is a wonderful writer, and her debut is no exception. A little glitchy on the formatting on kindle, and it felt much more like a chapter in a book rather than a stand-alone-story, but I'm hoping the release of the rest of the series will make it feel more complete. I wish it was longer and that we'd had more introduction to Evie and the world -- I know it's the fashion to start right in the middle of things, but I still think readers need to have a reason to care about the MC -- but for a first book it was good. Can't wait until the next one!
Evil Jones and the Crazy Exes is a fun and fast short that takes a strange turn and gets real interesting and weird, in a good way!
