Chapter 1 EXCERPT Most people are turned off by religion. I don’t blame them - it did me (and still does at times). But is there any proof there is a supernatural world in addition to the natural world? If so, should we all buy crystals or a Bible? I quit being afraid of asking hard questions about religion and what I found out is below.
It started the day my momma turned on Billy Graham when I was 13. “Was I a Christian?” “Was I saved?” She wouldn’t let up. I thought, who cares? Sure, I’d gone to Sunday School when I was 8 but no one made it out to be that much different from Cub Scouts or Little League.
While my biggest concern was the right sized bell bottom styles and trying to get my first kiss, mom suddenly morphed into Darth Vader. "What kind of music was I listening to?" "Are kids my age drinking?" "Was I having sex yet?" (Like I’d talk about that with my mom!). There were more commandments handed down that week than Moses on Mt. Caffeine. I was just sure of one thing - I was no longer neutral on religion. I was now firmly against it.

The title is not a criticism...it's to let folks know the nature of the book, which is unclear from the description. The book is a very short, very shallow presentation of a few of the standard apologetics that have been around for years and years. the author's intent seems to be to denegrate mainstream religious movements and encourage you to essentially form your own religious beliefs and view of a god. In otherwords, everyone will end up with their own individual religion, or version of one. For those wanting a meaty discourse on apologetics, this is not your book. For atheists or agnostics hoping to find new or strong arguments for a god, they are not in this little book. One can easily find strong refutations of the tired hacks presented here. All one needs do is avail one's self of Google or search in books here on Amazon.Product details

Awful, the author starts off with a misleading title, then proceeds to present the worst arguments I have seen in a while. Afraid of scrutinizing your own beliefs so much? Just goes to show, you can't debate a true believer......
This book is a Christian apologetics book, that tells why anyone should become Christian, even if they hate it. It's filled with long-debunked statements, and statements which never were true... like "most scientists believe in God", yet 97% of the members of the National Academy of Science are atheists. We have thousands of "missing links" - not just a single truth.

Well written. Honest and witty. Very good, especially for those wondering why religion is important and why Christianity is so hyped. If you are questioning religion, God, and/or Christianity, have a read of this short book. Puts it in perspective from a man who took the journey-- read the Bible cover to cover TWICE in 2 1/2 months! That is sincere inquiry. And all those who do the same, I dare say, will come to the same conclusion as Jim Ballew.
Poor guy. Not a logical thinker. Just another indoctrinated individual who states the bible is factual and that is proven by history. Enough said about this fact checker. He is either not very bright or he really thinks that he will lure some unsuspecting nonbeliever into reading this book. Once into the book the nonbeliever will see the " light". Really? Anyone who reads this book and falls for it is beyond help in the first place in my humble opinion. But in my experience, the dishonesty and deception is pretty typical of these folks who are missionaries to we heathens. Their dishonesty is disheartening ( supposedly so religious and all), and their grossly faulty logic is discouraging. One last point, the "author" ends with " he gave you free will." But if you use it to disagree with god, he'll kill you. Great, huh? Moreover, there are many good books, full of logic, that refute the free will treatise. Check them out. Don't waste 99 cents on this one. Donate it to a good cause.
A total waste of money. The title suggests the exact opposite of the content. As stated in other reviews (which I wish I'd read before I bought it) it's just a not-very-well written rehash of the same old apologetics, all of which have long since been refuted and debunked.
